ABSN Application Requirements
- minimum college-level cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, based on all
post-secondary course work
- a baccalaureate degree in a non-nursing field; although this is not required at the time
of application, this must be completed prior to enrollment in the program
- completion of a minimum of 4 of the required Natural
World prerequisites (General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy,
Physiology, Nutrition) with a minimum grade of 3.0 in each course AND a minimum cumulative GPA
of 3.3; the following also applies:
- Please note: minimum requirement to apply to the program is completion of 4 Natural
World prerequisites; applicants offered admission to the program must complete all
prerequisite courses (Lifespan Growth
and Development and Statistics in addition to Natural World prerequisites)
with a minimum grade of 3.0 in each course prior to start of program or admission
will be cancelled.
- 200 hours volunteer or paid healthcare experience in one setting, completed within
twelve months preceding submission of application
- meeting Essential Behaviors for undergraduate
students
- if applicable, adequate TOEFL scores
- after initial review, competitive applicants will write a proctored essay
To apply for Summer 2010 admission you must apply by 5pm on October 15, 2009:

- three (3) letters of recommendation, one
academic, one character and
one health care reference (Be sure
to download and complete all 3. Each reference form asks unique questions.)
- responses to admissions questions

completed Conviction/Criminal History and Authorization for Repeat
Background Checks and Dissemination of Results Form
- transcripts (official or unofficial) from all post-secondary schools attended
- Upon acceptance by the School
of Nursing, applicant will submit a post-baccalaureate
UW Undergraduate Application. Enrollment in the ABSN is contingent upon successful
admission to the UW.
