First Graduate Research Scholarship
Awarded by de Tornyay Center

Eileen Poupore, a psychiatric home health nurse, has been awarded the first Master's Scholarship from the de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging, a UW School of Nursing research, education and clinical care services center dedicated to the challenges of staying physically and mentally fit throughout the lifetime. Poupare, who is working on her psychiatric nurse practitioner degree with a specialty in geriatrics, plans to interview older adults who have been identified as needing health care services, including mental health services, but who have refused them. In addition to supporting graduate-level research, the de Tornyay Center funded five scholarships for undergraduate students interested in research on healthy aging during the past school year.
