School of Nursing Reps Speak at National
Conference on Race

Two representatives from the School of Nursing will be speakers at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in New Orleans. Julie Katz, assistant dean, academic services, and Carolyn Chow, coordinator of recruitment and admissions, will discuss "Building Your Own Campus Recruitment and Outreach Network." They will describe the successful campus-wide CAN-DO organization (Collaborative Access Network on Diversity Outreach) founded in part by nursing. CAN-DO is a grassworks network focusing on coordination of outreach and recruitment efforts from the UW to the diverse communities it serves, in order to improve services and use resources more effectively.

Julie Katz, second from right, assistant dean for academic services at the UW School of Nursing, poses with other founders of CAN-D0 (Collaborative Access Network on Diversity Outreach).
