Vivian O. Lee, MPA, BSN '59 receives
Charles E. Odegaard Award

Vivian O. Lee, MPA, BSN '59, is the year 2000 recipient of the Charles E. Odegaard Award. This annual award was established in 1973 to honor the president emeritus of the University of Washington whose extraordinary leadership led to the establishment of the Educational Opportunity Program in 1968. It honors an individual whose work and leadership sustain Odegaard's commitment and dedication to helping minority and disadvantaged students. Lee founded the first Office on Women's Health in the Public Health Service Region X. She is a long time supporter of the School of Nursing where an undergraduate nursing scholarship fund was established in her name in 1994. She also received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Nursing Alumni Association in 1993. The presentation was made May 17 at "Celebration 2000," the 30th Annual Educational Opportunity Program scholarship banquet, held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle.
