Corbally Endowed Professor Margaret Heitkemper, an internationally recognized expert on gastrointestinal symptoms in women, will be presented with the Nutrition Support Nurse of the Year Award by the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition at their annual meeting in February.
Heitkemper was selected for the award both for her research and for her mentorship of other researchers in the ASPEN organization. Currently chair of the Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems in the School of Nursing, she is the first nurse researcher to receive this honor. Past recipients have generally been clinicians working in nutritional support for patients.
