Carolyn Chow Honored with Martin Luther King Service Award
Carolyn Chow, coordinator of recruitment and admissions at the UW School of Nursing, was presented with a Martin Luther King Community Service Award at an annual tribute to the civil rights leader held January 11 in the lobby of the UW Health Sciences building.
Chow has been a major force behind the School's commitment to diversity in recruiting new students. She chairs the Collaborative Access Network on Diversity Outreach (CANDO) and is a former chair of the Staff Advisory
Council (SAC).
At the national level, Chow has secured funding to help the School participate in minority nursing conferences, helped coordinate the Community Dinner and Forum on Race, and helped plan the first UW Minority Health and Health Disparity Fair. Chow was also recently honored with an Honorable Mention from PolitcalCircus.com as one of the Top 30 Most Influential Asian Pacific Americans Under 30.
